Severe rainfall, landslides, and flooding linked to the Coastal El Niño climate phenomenon have devastated multiple regions across Peru.

Authorities have declared a state of emergency in more than 700 districts nationwide.

The Scale of the Crisis

Over 5,000 people have been directly affected by severe rainfall and flooding.
Authorities report 59 confirmed fatalities nationwide linked to extreme rainfall and associated hazards since December 2025.
In Arequipa alone, more than 1,700 homes have been damaged, with 147 declared completely uninhabitable.
