Every day, the San Diego House Rabbit Society opens its doors to rabbits in crisis — fragile, frightened, and in desperate need of urgent medical care. Our Emergency Medical Fund is what allows us to say yes when they arrive. But right now, that fund is running dangerously low.

Take Linus, for example. He’s battling calcinosis cutis, a painful skin condition, and underwent a double ear amputation to relieve his suffering. Despite everything, Linus still greets his caregivers with quiet trust — the kind only a rabbit with a brave heart can give.

Then there’s Miles, who was abandoned at a local shelter — eyes swollen, body crawling with live fleas. He was diagnosed with E. Cuniculi, dental disease, and a chronic ear infection. Yet today, in his foster home, Miles is showing us just how strong and loving a little rabbit can be. All he wants is a gentle hand and a bit of attention from his foster mom.

Beau was rescued from the side of the highway, left behind with another rabbit by people who threatened to abandon them again if we couldn’t help. He now faces a chronic chest infection that requires daily nebulizer treatments. Every breath he takes is a small victory.

And Wonton, our newest fighter, is suspected to have E. Cuniculi, likely triggered by the stress of his neuter surgery. His temperature dropped dangerously low, but thanks to immediate care and treatment, he’s hanging on one tiny heartbeat at a time.
