When I receive messages like the above from parents and family members, it reminds me of the importance of the work we do at The Kiva Center.

As we reach the end of another successful Homeschool Enrichment program year, it’s a time to reflect. We’ve been fortunate to witness enormous growth in all our participants, from growing in confidence with outdoor skills, to making new friends, and deepening their connection to the natural world. We are truly grateful for your partnership, support, and commitment to our mission; quite simply, we could not do this work without you.

One highlight includes the Overnight Fire Quest experience that our Mentors-in-Training experienced this past weekend. The teens and young adult graduates of our program embarked on an overnight solo, tending a candle flame throughout the night beneath the full moon and in the quiet of the forest. Each of these participants has grown up with The Kiva Center, beginning at ages 6, 7, 11, and 12. They were supported and welcomed back by the larger community. They returned from this experience with greater confidence, self-trust, and a deeper understanding of their own capabilities.

For the month of June, we are excited to bolster our existing programs, including a new middle school age homeschool enrichment group and in 2027, a youth mental health pilot program.
