Joey Brenneman, Manhattan based playwright/director and Laura Attanasio, founder/artistic director of Shoreline Theater Academy along with the advanced playwriting troupe at the Shoreline Theater Academy in Clinton, CT, will host an open rehearsal/pilot of ESCAPE THE NOISE, the student devised play officially accepted into the Edinburgh, Scotland Festival of Fringe Arts this August 2025 in midtown Manhattan.

This eye opening play written through the teen lens, tackles the alarming mental health crisis affecting teens today as it pertains to smart device use. We invite you to see for yourself why this crisis must be addressed and hope your attendance will inspire you to join the growing movement to seek honest solutions to support positive change for the future. Your support will also provide valuable experience for our young emerging artists to experience performing to a completely new demographic than their Connecticut regulars as they prepare for Scotland and an American tour of the production upon return. In short, we need you as we seek to be the changemakers of the future.

The Story: A group of American teens embark on an outdoor education trip expecting a miserable weekend without their phones. Cut off from social media and the noise of everyday life, they begin to connect in unexpected ways. Stripped of their usual distractions, they face the raw realities of their own struggles: anxiety, depression, self-doubt and family pressures. Through shared moments of laughter and heartache, they discover that real connection isn't found in Wi-Fi signals but in each other. A heartfelt, funny and poignant exploration of mental health, friendship and what happens when we truly stop and listen.

A suggested single ticket price begins at $30/per seat.
