At The Underdogs, we don’t just rescue animals; we find the ones the world has given up on. We are the home for the "herd"—the seniors, the medically fragile, and the misunderstood. In the quiet hills of our Colorado Headquarters, these resilient souls have finally found peace.

They’ve spent their lives waiting for someone to choose them. Now, it is our responsibility to protect them. But right now, we are facing a reality that keeps us up at night: If a fire started today, we couldn't get them all out.

The Reality of the Risk

Our headquarters in Colorado is as beautiful as it is vulnerable. We live in a landscape where "Fire Season" is no longer a season—it is a year-round threat.

A Record-Breaking Threat: In just the first three months of 2026, Southern Colorado has already shattered a 20-year record with 25 Red Flag Warning days.
The 92% Probability: Statistics show that the annualized burn probability in El Paso County is staggering. For a sanctuary like ours, located in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI), the question isn't if a fire will spark, but when.
The Logistic Nightmare: When the smoke appears over the ridge, we don’t have minutes; we have seconds. Currently, we lack the specialized equipment to move our entire "herd" at once. In an evacuation, leaving even one life behind is not an option we can live with.

The Need: Evac Preparation Transportation

We are launching a $10,000 Capital Campaign to acquire a dedicated Emergency Transportation Vehicle. This isn't just a truck; it is a lifeboat.

This vehicle will allow us to:

Transport the Entire Herd: Move our animals in a single, coordinated sweep rather than relying on multiple trips that the fire won't allow.
Rapid Deployment: Keep the vehicle staged and "evac-ready" 24/7 with specialized loading equipment for our senior and special-needs residents.
Community Support: Act as a resource for neighboring rescues when disaster strikes our region.
