Eva Kotchever (1891 – 1943), AKA Eve Adams or Eve Addams, nee Chawa Złoczower, was a Polish-Jewish émigré librarian and writer, author of Lesbian Love. In 1925/26 she opened "Eve's Hangout," a popular, openly lesbian literary salon in Greenwich Village, NYC which closed when Eve was arrested in a NYPD sting operation. Jailed for a year and a half on obscenity and disorderly conduct charges, she was deported to Poland in 1927 by the US government. She spent time in Paris, until she was deported back to Poland in 1943 by the Nazi regime and murdered in Auschwitz.

After opening Eve's Hangout, a lesbian cafe in Greenwich Village, Adams self-published Lesbian Love (1925), one of the earliest American books openly celebrating female same-sex relationships. Her activism and visibility made her a target.

In 2021, American historian Jonathan Ned Katz published The Daring Life and Dangerous Times of Eve Adams, which includes the original text and illustrations of rediscovered Lesbian Love.

Cindy Rizzo is a member of The Beacon for Democracy and Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, and a published author of five Jewish and sapphic novels, as well as several essays and short stories. She is a philanthropy and non-profit consultant devoted to social justice for all, "Putting Ideas and Values into Words and Strategy." She has served as VP for Social Justice at Arcus Foundation, focused on LGBT rights and conservation of great apes and gibbons. She lives in NYC with her wife and three cats.
