On October 21, the Center for Trauma and Embodiment gathers donors, practitioners, and community members at the Broad Institute for a morning built around what CFTE is actually doing in the world — from trauma-sensitive yoga in correctional facilities to community-led healing programs in conflict zones. The reach is global: trained facilitators in more than 50 countries, territories, and First Nations, more than 100 peer-reviewed publications.

This annual event is CFTE's chance to tell that story directly — not through a conference, not through someone else's platform, but in a room we've filled with people who want to understand and support what we're building.

SCHOLARSHIPS

CFTE's trainings are rigorous, credentialed, and expensive to deliver — and the people who most need to do this work are often the ones who can't afford to access it. In FY26, CFTE provided approximately $100,000 in scholarships and grants. A generous corporate partner offset $50,000 of that. Donors covered the rest.

Over 225 people around the world participated in CFTE's pay-what-you-can direct service sessions last year. CFTE paid $21,840 to its class facilitators. Participants contributed $1,402. Donors covered the remaining $20,438.

Your support makes this training accessible to people who would otherwise never be able to afford it — and who often go on to bring this work back to communities that have very little else.

This fund supports CFTE scholarship recipients and CFTE's direct service pay-what-you-can classes.

RESEARCH

CFTE does not make claims it cannot back up. Every program CFTE runs has been developed through or alongside peer-reviewed research, and that research is freely available to anyone who wants it — no paywall, no abstract-only access, no waiting list. healwithcfte.org/research.

High-quality research is not cheap. Investigator salaries, student stipends, IRB fees, and data collection all add up. CFTE believes the ethical responsibility of seeking independent peer review for its trauma care proposals is non-negotiable — and that without ongoing research investment, the field stagnates.

Your support funds the rigorous science behind the work, including grant writing that secures additional research funding.

This fund supports CFTE's research infrastructure, investigator and student stipends, and grant development.

CFTE COMMUNITY — LOCAL

In 2025, CFTE launched the Massachusetts Trauma Healing Coalition — a cross-sector network focused on making trauma care accessible to the people of Massachusetts, without barriers of cost, diagnosis, distance, or time. In its first year, the Coalition gave testimony at the MA State House, launched a pilot project with Mass Audubon and the Boston Nature Center, and held its first community event in Cambridge.

A generous donor funded a coordinator to run the pilot and gather data. That data will drive the next phase of local expansion.

CFTE COMMUNITY — GLOBAL

The Community Leader Program trains facilitators in places where the idea of "waiting until it's safe enough to heal" is not a real option. Right now, CLP facilitators are running trauma-sensitive yoga sessions in Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank, First Nations communities in Canada, and other active conflict and displacement contexts.

This is not an adaptation of an existing model. It is original work. New Arabic terminology had to be created for concepts like interoception because the language simply did not exist. Facilitators are paid per session — a professional credential with real economic weight in communities that have very little.

Your support funds CLP facilitator training, session stipends, and program expansion into communities where healing is happening right now, not after the crisis ends.

This fund supports the TCTSY Community Leader Program and its facilitators in active conflict and displacement contexts.
