CASA of Western Maryland is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that recruits and trains volunteers to provide advocacy for approximately 30 CINA (child in need of assistance) cases in Western Maryland. The children we serve range in age from newborns to teenagers.

CASA volunteer advocates are appointed by the courts to provide information to judges and make recommendations that serve each child's best interests. Advocates get to know each child they serve during monthly meetings and by working with other adults in the child's life.

Sometimes, a CASA volunteer advocate is the only consistent adult within the court system to voluntarily advocate for the child. Our volunteers strive to find the best possible outcome in each case. Although the judge has the final say, the recommendations of a CASA volunteer advocate play a vital role in the outcome.
