A local PS 958 family with three young boys experienced a devastating apartment fire this week in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, displacing them and destroying all of their belongings. They are in need of immediate support and we know we can count on our local Brooklyn Community to wrap them in an outpouring of support in this difficult time.

They are currently receiving very temporary housing relief but without access to a kitchen. Families from the school community have brought immediate needs like kids shoes and food items to school but they are still in need of so much more to put their lives back together.

With Spring Break beginning at the end of this week it is going to be an incredibly difficult time to be in this transition. The funds we raise here will help this family with housing and daily necessities, and meet other unexpected costs as a result of this emergency.

This fundraiser is being organized by the parents' association of PS 958 (501c3), and funds will be given directly to the family. We hope to provide this support as immediately as we can, to ease the burden as they rebuild.

Una familia local de la escuela PS 958 con tres niños pequeños experimentó un devastador incendio en un apartamento esta semana en Sunset Park, Brooklyn, desplazándolos y destruyendo todas sus pertenencias. Necesitan apoyo inmediato y sabemos que podemos contar con nuestra comunidad local de Brooklyn para brindarles un gran apoyo en este momento difícil.

Actualmente reciben ayuda de alojamiento muy temporal pero sin acceso a una cocina. Las familias de la comunidad escolar han traído necesidades inmediatas como zapatos para niños y alimentos a la escuela, pero todavía necesitan mucho más para recomponer sus vidas.

Con las vacaciones de primavera comenzando a finales de esta semana, será un momento increíblemente difícil para estar en esta transición. Los fondos que recaudemos aquí ayudarán a esta familia con la vivienda y las necesidades diarias, y cubrirán otros costos inesperados como resultado de esta emergencia.
