THEATER TO INSPIRE COMMUNITY RESISTANCE

Fear and Misery in DC is producing Brecht’s Fear and Misery in the Third Reich to rally DC’s diverse arts community against rising authoritarianism. The play exposes German life in the 1930s and how the Nazis’ use of fear suppressed resistance. Brecht’s warning is horrifically urgent as the Trump administration's attacks on human rights, civil liberties, and cultural workers destroy the illusion of democracy in the United States. This chilling, 90-year-old documentary play forces contemporary audiences to reflect on our complicity in fascism.

This isn’t just entertainment; It’s a call to action. Every performance will include a community discussion around tangible ways to organize, resist, and protect our rights. Ticket proceeds and additional funds from this campaign will be split evenly between DC Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid (MSMA) and Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW). Based in southeast DC, CHAW is “building community through the arts.” Supporting CHAW is an investment in an artistic space for unity, resilience, and dialogue amidst artistic censorship.
