The United Way of Collier and the Keys (UWCK) is inviting the community to embrace a critical needs project addressing local food insecurity. 43% of our Monroe County residents live paycheck-to-paycheck and rely heavily on our local food pantries to help feed their families.

In memory of our dear friend and former Board Member, “Mangrove Mike” Forster, we are once again organizing a “Feed the Keys” Food Drive.  From May 1st through May 17th we encourage spreading the kindness of #BeLikeMike by donating to our virtual food drive. Monetary donations help to sustain our local food pantries year round!

On Friday, May 17th, the “Feed the Keys” Food Drive will culminate in UWCK hosting non-perishable food collection sites at these participating partners;

Burton Memorial Church in Tavernier
Keys Area Interdenominational Resource (KAIR) in Marathon
SOS Callahan Community Kitchen in Key West

Community members are encouraged to make monetary donations here or non-perishable food donations at our participating partner locations on May 17th between 2pm and 6pm. The donations made in Mike’s name will honor his biggest contribution to our community: feeding the Florida Keys in times of need.   To volunteer at our event, register below.
