The Sixth Major Pro-am

Why the Sixth Major?? Well, everybody knows about the four traditional majors, and the Barracuda Championship in Tahoe is universally known as the Fifth Major. Thus, we're humbly calling this event the Sixth Major.

Each group of GHCC members (either foursomes or fivesomes, depending on how many people sign up), will be paired with one of our special guests for the pro-am:

Ryan French who runs the MondayQInfo Twitter account. Ryan has over 200,000 followers and tells the amazing stories of the grinders who chase their dream of making it to the PGA Tour via mini-tours, the KFT and the weekly Monday qualifiers for tour events. If you're not following him, you're missing out on the best stories in golf.

Mark Baldwin, KFT and Asian Tour player who has made several starts on the PGA Tour also (check out the video below from his appearance at the AT&T), including at the Fifth Major. Mark is a Notre Dame alumnus and partners with Ryan creating content for MondayQInfo's website and podcast. He's also massively long off the tee (longer than Charles Porter), and I'm guessing he'll drive the green on multiple holes at GHCC.

We'll also connect with a couple of additional touring pros (not sure whether mini-tours or the big tours) to fill out the teams.

Format, Details and What's Included

Given that the Barracuda is the same weekend and that Mark has played in that event, we'll do a Stableford tournament taking the top 2 or 3 scores from each group for each hole. Easy and a fast pace of play.

The day will include box lunch burger dogs and beverages along with a free Dunning Golf shirt for each player. We'll also have prizes for the winners (TBD) and a cocktail hour after the round.

We're shooting for tee times between 11am and noon on the 18th, so we'll probably wrap up around 5 or 6pm, depending on how long the cocktail hour goes.

This will be a rare opportunity to play with a touring pro, get to know Ryan and Mark, drink some adult beverages and support a great cause.
