Flamelily Foundation x Teach For Zimbabwe

One scholarship. One learner. A future protected.

Flamelily Foundation is partnering with Teach For Zimbabwe to identify and support 500 learners in partner primary schools, so a child’s education does not end because of unpaid fees, missing supplies, or circumstances beyond their control.

Across many communities, school attendance is not determined by ability or ambition. It is determined by cost. When fees go unpaid, learning pauses. When supplies run out, progress stalls. Small gaps can quietly become permanent ones.

This campaign responds to that reality with steady, practical support.

At its heart is a family’s commitment to honor Dr. Yvonne Bare-Dumbu, a woman who lived at the intersection of education and health sciences, and who invested in people long before recognition followed.

Dr. Bare-Dumbu did not separate education from care. She understood that learning shapes opportunity, and that health makes learning possible. She helped people stay in school, access treatment, and continue forward during difficult seasons.

This fundraiser continues that work, practically and transparently.

What your gift does

Your donation helps remove the practical barriers that commonly interrupt a child’s education.

It covers:

School fee arrears and current term fees
Basic learning materials and essential supplies
Practical support that keeps attendance consistent

Most learners need between $50–$100 per term, depending on arrears and material needs. This support helps cover the immediate costs that keep a them enrolled.

Our partnership with Teach For Zimbabwe

Teach For Zimbabwe (TFZ) is our trusted implementation partner on the ground and part of the Teach For All global network. TFZ leads the “Identify One Learner” approach, working directly with school leaders to identify learners at risk early, before they disengage or drop out.

The current pilot supports learners across five districts:

Binga
Chiredzi
Chivi
Mudzi
Mutoko

This partnership ensures that support is locally informed, structured, and accountable.

The legacy commitment

20% of all lifetime proceeds from this campaign will be reserved for the Dr. Yvonne Bare-Dumbu Scholars in Health Sciences.
This supports girls in high school who demonstrate commitment to pursuing careers in the health sciences.
This reflects Flamelily Foundation’s long-term focus on women’s health, particularly menstrual health equity and underfunded research pathways.
The commitment ensures that support extends beyond immediate school fees and contributes to future healthcare leadership.

Funds are directed toward practical barriers: fees, arrears, learning materials, and essential supplies.
