We imagine "Books Give You Wings" as a metaphor to communicate the transformative power of books, both as creative objects and as a critical means of preserving truth, expanding our minds, and shaping a more informed and empathetic world. They can elevate your mind and spirit, much like wings carry you to new heights.

As the year ends, many of us feel the weight of uncertainty, division, and flux. Engaging with our own creativity, and that of others, allows us to shift focus and set our minds free. Just like wings enable flight, books enable the mind to soar to new heights, opening up new worlds and igniting imaginations.

We are thrilled to announce a new program that will kick-off in 2025!

After analyzing results from a recent survey completed by you, our community, we are scheduling 12 FREE mini-Zoom workshops, one for each month of 2025. We believe solace may be found in an often-chaotic world by making something with our hands, and we are committed to offering these experiences to the broadest audience possible. Please stay tuned for the details of this exciting new program.

Each year the Austin Book Arts Center provides free or low-cost programming to thousands of individuals in Central Texas and beyond. Your contribution will go toward:

Developing high-quality and meaningful WORKSHOPS in the art of the book, both in-person and virtually.
Supporting the OPEN STUDIO program - inviting more people to access the fully-equipped bindery and printshop.
Conducting OUTREACH in the community to elevate the book arts as a more accessible medium for creativity and self-expression.
Developing programs that further our shared conviction that there is healing though making art.

The Austin Book Arts Center is a non-profit makerspace. We rely on charitable donations to continue to offer affordable or free programming to central Texas and beyond! Since our founding in 2015, ABAC has provided a meaningful connection to community, including developing bilingual KITS & VIDEOS for K-12 teachers and students. Help us continue the momentum in creating vital programming and spreading the good news of the book arts to an even greater audience!
