In neighborhoods across the U.S. — fossil fuel corporations are banking on plastic production to power their profits. Ground zero is Louisiana and families in the chemical corridor who are drinking water and breathing air contaminated with microplastics. Almost no one is measuring how much, or what it's doing to their health. They have been burying their family members and neighbors and watching the industry expand into their communities for too long.

For Us, By Us: Test the Water and Air. Use the Data. Demand Change

This September, Seeding Sovereignty is launching a new environmental health and advocacy initiative to demand accountability and add science as a tool to fight for health justice and against the massive plastics industry buildout in low income communities in Louisiana. Through For Us, By Us, residents who have been ignored by the fossil fuel industry and government regulators will be trained to lead their own environmental health investigation, working hand-in-hand with researchers at California State University Channel Islands and community partners including The Vessel Project of Louisiana.

Your gift helps power Phase 1 and the September 2026 Launch of this critical partnership work. Together we will:

distribute microplastics test kits & train families to test their homes and collect the data that they will own
distribute filters to contaminated homes - we need to take action to prevent more health harms now and waiting for laws to change won't work
document firsthand stories and testimony to carry community voices into newsrooms, state and federal decision makers offices, and corporate headquarters
