“My child is still upstairs. Do I turn back?”

Imagine standing outside your home as smoke pours from a window and realizing your child may still be inside.

Your heart tells you to run back. Fear makes it hard to think. Where is your child? Did someone help them out? Do the firefighters know they may be upstairs?

No parent should have to face those questions. Yet this is why fire safety must become a family conversation before an emergency happens.

At Foster’s Outreach Ministries, Inc. (FOM), we want families to leave our events knowing what to do if a fire starts from recognizing danger and alerting others to escaping safely and accounting for loved ones.

Once you’re outside, stay outside. Never re-enter a burning building. Call 911 immediately and tell firefighters if someone may be trapped and where they may be located.

FOM has planned five free community fire safety education events, beginning with:

Attendance is free. Donations are optional. Everyone is welcome.

Additional event dates and locations will be announced as confirmed.

We cannot wait until smoke fills a hallway to start teaching our families what to do.
