Like many arts organizations across the country, we’ve felt the strain of a tightening economy and a dramatic reduction in grant funding for the arts. In order to ensure the long-term future of Willow Oak Center for Arts & Learning, we made the incredibly difficult decision to release our paid staff. These decisions were not made lightly, but they were necessary to stabilize the organization and allow us to move forward responsibly.

Today, Willow Oak is operating as a 100% board-led nonprofit, supported by dedicated community members who have stepped forward to offer their professional expertise and consultation pro bono as we thoughtfully rebuild.

Robertson County deserves a place for the arts, a place where creativity is nurtured, history is honored, and innovation has room to grow. We remain deeply committed to that mission.

As we look ahead, we are reshaping Willow Oak with sustainability at the center. Our vision includes expanding offerings that support both culture and creative workforce development from hands-on classes like upholstery, to architecture lectures exploring our historic district, to certification programs in areas such as graphic design and other creative careers. Our goal is to become a true arts and creative workforce hub for this region.

The work has already begun. But to continue building this future, we need the community’s support.

We are launching The Founding 60, a campaign to secure 60 committed monthly donors who will provide the financial stability needed during this transition.

31 individuals have already stepped forward. We are looking for 29 more.

A minimum commitment of $40 per month helps provide critical operating support as we rebuild programming, develop new partnerships, and strengthen the foundation of Willow Oak, all while continuing the classes and performing opportunities our community loves.

Founding 60 members will receive:

• Annual State of Willow Oak Night: a private event unveiling new offerings and sharing the previous year’s results
• Quarterly Founding 60 Updates: private Zoom briefings with transparent financial snapshots and behind-the-scenes progress
• Class Discounts Beginning June 1, 2026: one free qualifying single class per quarter (may be gifted) and 15% off qualifying classes year-round

If you believe Robertson County deserves a strong and sustainable arts presence, we invite you to join us as one of the Founding 60. We are rebuilding with intention, and we are here to stay.
