Firefighters face significantly higher rates of cancer, cardiovascular disease, hearing loss, and respiratory illness than the general population due to repeated exposure to smoke, combustion products, diesel exhaust, and toxic chemicals encountered in the line of duty.

While many large urban departments provide annual wellness exams and cancer screening programs, rural and volunteer firefighters often go without access to these services because of cost and limited resources.

The Frontier Health Foundation was created to change that.

Through the Frontier Firefighter Health Initiative, donations help provide comprehensive firefighter physicals, cancer screening, and early detection programs for rural firefighters across Oregon, beginning in the Klamath Basin and expanding throughout Southern Oregon and the Oregon Coast.

Donors may support the general fund or direct their contribution to the fire district or community that matters most to them.

Every firefighter deserves the opportunity to detect illness early and remain healthy

Because those who protect our communities deserve a community willing to protect them in return.
