Here is what it takes to keep East Limestone Fire Department ready to respond for an entire year:

2,000 gallons of diesel for our engines and apparatus. 200 gallons of gasoline for our support vehicles and equipment.

The Numbers Tell the Story

In 2025, Alabama averaged $3.30 per gallon for diesel and $2.75 per gallon for gasoline. Our total fuel cost: $7,150.

In 2026, diesel has climbed to $5.00 per gallon and gasoline to $4.07. Our projected fuel cost: $10,800.

That is a $3,650 increase in a single year. A 51% jump. Same trucks. Same call volume. Same mission. Far higher cost.

Why We Are Asking

We refuse to let a price at the pump be the reason help arrives late, or worse, not at all. Our community has always shown up for us when we needed it. Today we are asking for your help so we can keep showing up for you.

That number covers this year's projected fuel and builds a small reserve, so a future price spike never delays a response.
