For the first time in our history, Full Spectrum Features is launching a campaign to rally our community of artists, storytellers, activists and film-lovers to invest in our shared vision for the work ahead. Since 2015, we’ve worked to advance our mission to drive equity in the independent film industry by producing, exhibiting and supporting the work of historically marginalized communities.

Our independent productions, community-based programs and nationally acclaimed educational initiatives have upended Hollywood demographics – boldly making new space for the voices of women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disabled artists and audiences.

And what a journey we’ve had. Together, we have:

Produced dozens of films, short stories and series championing the voices of a “full spectrum” of human experiences – which have screened at premier festivals from SXSW to Tribeca to Berlinale. In 2024, we’ll debut our new film, Desire Lines – adding Sundance Film Festival laurels to our list of accomplishments.
Earned a reputation for field-leading educational initiatives – with projects like The Orange Story sparking timely dialogue around racial healing and diversifying curriculum in public school classrooms around the country.
Built a coalition of peers committed to shaping a more accessible industry that meets the needs of creators and audiences by expanding captioning, ASL interpretation, audio description and other essential support.
Leveraged our national reputation to reinvest in a more inclusive ecosystem in our Chicago backyard – with programs like Community Storytellers that are amplifying the voices and insights of community-embedded makers.
Built trusted partnerships with values-aligned institutions that are changing the media landscape, such as the Joyce Foundation and the MacArthur Foundation, which recently celebrated Full Spectrum Features alongside other creative changemakers in Chicago.
Reimagined inequitable systems in the nonprofit sector, expanding and nurturing our team with a commitment to full human growth and potential.

A Challenge for Full Spectrum Features’ Future:

With steadfast belief in what we’re building, our partners at the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation have committed a dollar-for-dollar match for every new or increased donation from the public through November 2024, up to $25,000. The funds will enable us to establish our first cash reserve, towards a stable foundation to support our vision.

Your support for our campaign kickoff today will give us a boost of momentum to carry through the new year as we build new partnerships and rally others to join the movement for a more equitable and representative film industry.
