But today, a lack of resources and recognition threatens these vital programs—leaving students without a creative outlet or a place to belong and establish community. The Need

The Philadelphia Independence Awards bridges this gap, uplifting dozens of regional schools and celebrating student talent. But to keep this mission alive, we need your help. The Give a Musical Fund

The mission of the Give a Musical Program is to support the creation, development, and/or enhancement of underfunded (or non-funded) high school musical theater programs in their early stage development OR the enhancement and improvement of an established program to serve a large number of students.

Guiding Principles

We believe all students should have equal access to creating theater.
We believe that large groups should benefit from grant funds.
We believe that funds should reflect long-term investments in a program and not fleeting expenses.

Who can Apply?

Any adult responsible for directing or running a high school musical theatre program. Recipients of funds must join the PIA and participate fully in the awards program for at least two consecutive years after receiving the grant, and all enrollment fees will be waived.
