More than 1,000 people a month interact with The Optimist website and social media. Bloomington High School South's 115-year-old student newspaper is news for students by students. We cover sports, fine arts, student hobbies, academics, pop culture, and more!

We need $3,000 to pay for website hosting, our app, and contest entries. We are entirely self-funded. Please consider supporting South's award-winning (Quill and Scroll Writing Awards, National Scholastic Press Association, Columbia University Journalism Award) student newspaper, and play a part in promoting youth journalism!
