The Wrongful Conviction Trauma Center was established to address a critical gap: the deep, psychological scars left by years of wrongful imprisonment.

The Need for Specialized Care

Data shows that over 3,000 individuals have been exonerated in the United States since 1989. However, upon release, many receive less support than those on parole. The transition is often characterized by severe PTSD, social anxiety, and the overwhelming weight of lost time. Currently, our center has a waiting list that exceeds our capacity by 40 percent, leaving dozen of exonerees without the clinical support they require to reintegrate into society.

Our Vision: Expanding the Recovery Program

We are launching this campaign to expand our clinical services and ensure that no exoneree has to process their trauma alone. Our expansion includes:

Specialized Clinical Staffing: Hiring two additional trauma-informed therapists trained in the specific nuances of systemic injustice.
Peer Support Networks: Formalizing a mentorship program where long-term exonerees guide those newly released.
Holistic Reentry Services: Providing 24-hour crisis support and transitional mental health toolkits.
