Odette arrived from South LA Shelter starving, flea-infested, severely matted and full of tapeworms.

Pommy Lee Jones had been surviving on the streets of Los Angeles, covered in fleas and ticks.

Brothers Beowoof and Karl Barx had been dumped in the Hesperia desert and left to fend for themselves until taken to the Hesperia Shelter.

We said yes to all four. 

We treated the parasites. We vaccinated them. We ran bloodwork. We provided dental care. We spayed and neutered them. We didn't wait until the money was raised before providing their care. They needed us then, so we paid the bills and figured we would ask for help afterward.

Those are the endings we work for.

But while their medical care may be behind them, the bills aren't being Green Dog Foundation.

We originally set a very modest goal of $2500 toward the expenses of these four dogs. So far, just five wonderful donors have given $875 - 35% of our goal.

We only need $1,625 more to close this fundraiser.

That money doesn't simply reimburse an old bill. It goes back into our rescue fund so we can say YES to the next dog who needs us.

And there is always a next dog.

Odette landed on the urgent list at South LA Shelter in heartbreaking condition -- starving, flea-infested, matted from head to tail, her skin raw from trying to escape the fleas covering her body, and full of tapeworms.

Green Dog Foundation pulled her and began putting her back together.

It wasn't one dramatic procedure that saved Odette. It was treatment, nutrition, veterinary care, grooming, patience and time -- followed by the spay surgery she needed before moving forward to the life she deserved.

The frightened, neglected little dog in that first photograph is why we say yes.

Beowoof and his brother Karl Barx were dumped in the Hesperia desert and left to fend for themselves until captured and taken to the Hesperia Shelter.

When Beowoof was rescued, he was severely emaciated and had gone without even the most basic care every dog deserves.

But give a dog safety, good food, veterinary care and a little time, and amazing things can happen.

Beowoof blossomed in foster care and received the medical care and neuter surgery he needed.

His story could have ended alone in that desert. It didn't.

💚 KARL BARX - ADOPTED! 🎉

Karl Barx was dumped in the same desert as his brother Beowoof.

After initially being adopted from the Hesperia Shelter, Karl was returned to the shelter after only 2 days when his family believed he had kennel cough. He was immediately at risk of lethal injection because he was now an "owner surrender". After being rescued by Green Dog Foundation, our veterinarian determined that he did not have kennel cough and we promised him we'd find the right home.

We provided the veterinary care and neuter surgery he needed and gave him another chance.

And this time...

Karl Barx found his family. He has been ADOPTED! ❤️

That's what rescue is supposed to look like.

Two of these dogs are already sleeping in their forever homes.

BUT GREEN DOG FOUNDATION STILL NEEDS TO RECOVER THE MONEY WE SPENT GETTING THEM THERE.

We are a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue. No salaries. No paid staff. The people doing this work donate their time so the money we raise can go toward the dogs who need us.

If 65 people give $25, this fundraise is DONE.

If $25 isn't possible, $5 or $10 gets us closer.
