Growing up in a cultural environment where financial security was of paramount importance, "arts career" was not in my family's vocabulary.  Consequently I studied engineering even though I loved anything visual arts.  

I founded DESIGNCONNECT to give students the support and access they need to succeed in the creative design industry,  gaining financially stable jobs while doing something they love.

My visual project for the Create-A-Thon is rooted in graphic design, a creative field that often combines two powerful modes of communication - imagery and language.  Completely self trained, I used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create two sets of digital art based on photos.

The first one is titled "D.E.I. for DETROIT".  It expresses my fervent believe that Detroit, my home for the last thirty years, can be and will be a city of diversity, equity and inclusion.  The second one is a self-portrait.  They both utilize color as an added layer of expression.

$50 donation = one 11"x17" "D.E.I. for DETROIT" poster (choose any design and color)

$100 donation = two 11"x17" "D.E.I. for DETROIT" posters (in any design color combination or custom color)

$150 donation = three 11"x17" "D.E.I. for DETROIT" poster (in any design color combination or custom color)

$300 donation = digital file of a customized work based on your favorite photo that can be printed to any size.  If you desire, I will work with you to produce a set of images in different colors and effects to form a group (see my self-portrait as an example).
