My name is Courtney Ariel and I am a musician/singer-songwriter and early scholar. I think, write, and sing about how our relational connections are deeply significant, often transformative, and at times, life-saving.

I am raising money to record an album and I need your help! This collection of songs is the culmination of a lot of living, trying, learning and unlearning. This album is about relationship starts and endings; friendship and repair; joy, love and longing. I will share a couple of live recordings with you if you donate, and I am so excited for you to hear them! If you'd like, you can listen to my previous three albums HERE. 🎶

Budget breakdown:

I am attempting to raise $15,500, which is a lot of money, but $15,500 is not necessarily a lot of money to make an album when the goal is to pay musicians for their collaboration in creating something beautiful.

Most independent artists crowdfund to raise anywhere between 25,000-40,000+ to record, mix, master, have merch, have a marketing budget and create video content for some of the songs. The amount we are raising here is to cover much (but not all) of the cost of paying the producer and instrumentalists for recording, and the cost of mixing, mastering, and releasing the album into the world. It is most important to me that as a Black woman folk musician who doesn't spend a lot of time on social media (all of which the algorithm does not reward!), that this project be VISIBLE, and that WE can raise the amount needed to make these songs shine!!! 🥰
