🍎 I’m Becoming a Teacher—And Honoring My Dad Along the Way
Hi, my name is Aubrey Dent, and I was born in Augusta, Georgia, in 2007. I’m a proud senior at Harlem High School in Harlem, GA, where I’ve spent the past four years as a dedicated student-athlete. I’ve been a four-year member of the varsity softball team, earned the title of Captain my senior year, played flag football, and served as the varsity girls’ basketball team manager.
This fall, I’ll attend South Carolina State University (SCSU) to major in Elementary Education. I chose SCSU because it feels like home—with its close-knit community, strong academics, and vibrant athletic and music programs. I’ll be playing for the softball team and singing in the university choir!
My dream is to one day teach 3rd grade, earn my master’s degree, and eventually become a school principal. I want to shape young minds and lead with compassion, purpose, and faith.
💖 A Life of Service and Passion
I’m an active member of Friendship Baptist Church in Appling, GA, where I participate in the youth, usher, and young adult choir ministries. I’ve mentored young girls in my community, volunteered as a youth softball camp leader, and I’m especially passionate about raising money and awareness for sickle cell disease.
This cause is personal. I’ve seen firsthand how sickle cell disease can affect not only the person living with it but also the entire family. It’s a condition that leaves a lasting impact—and I want to be part of the change.
