Camryn Whitley's Story

🩺 I’m Becoming a Pediatric Surgeon—So Kids Like Me Can Dream Big, Too

My name is Camryn Whitley, and I’m a senior at Westlake High School in Atlanta, GA, proudly enrolled in the Math Science Magnet Program and taking International Baccalaureate courses. This year, I was honored to be named one of the Top 25 Seniors out of a class of 541—a goal I’ve worked toward since 9th grade. I’ve also been on the Principal’s Honor Roll for eleven consecutive years, and was recently recognized as a Georgia Merit Scholar, placing in the top 3% of my junior class.

I’m a member of the Beta Club, HOSA, and the National Honor Society, and I’ve always pushed myself to excel. But what motivates me most isn’t just achievement—it’s purpose.

Since I was a child, I’ve dreamed of becoming a pediatric surgeon—a dream I’ve held since kindergarten. I live with Sickle Cell Disease, and I was diagnosed at birth. But with the unwavering support of my family, I’ve pursued every goal without hesitation. Now, I want to give that same hope to other children—to help them live their best lives without the burden of illness or frequent hospitalization.

My top college choice is Xavier University, where I plan to study Biology as a Pre-Med major.

🎓 Why This Scholarship Means Everything

Winning the Warrior On The Rise Scholarship means more than financial support. It represents resilience, strength, and community—the very qualities that helped me graduate in the top 3% of my class and the same qualities I will carry with me into medical school and beyond.

This scholarship reminds me that I’m not alone. It shows me that others believe in my dream and are cheering me on as I work toward a career that will help others like me.

🌟 Help the Next Warrior Rise

I’m honored to be one of 27 Warrior On The Rise scholars awarded this year—an inspiring leap from just 10 awarded in previous years. That growth is thanks to supporters like you who believe in students living with Sickle Cell Disease and rising above every challenge.

When you support the Warrior On The Rise Scholarship Fund, you make stories like mine possible. You help future doctors, scientists, artists, and leaders keep reaching—and keep rising.

Thank you for believing in me—and in the next generation of warriors.
