🐊 From Animal Behavior to Human Healing—This Scholarship Supports My Mission
Hi, my name is Eric Shelton, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by animals—not just what they do, but why they do it. Did you know crocodiles, despite their tough reputation, are actually some of the most attentive mothers in the animal kingdom? Or that snake venom is being used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and cancer?
For me, studying animals isn’t just about science—it’s a window into evolution, biology, medicine, and even culture. It’s a way to understand life itself.
My dream is to become a biology professor—someone who teaches, inspires, and leads research in animal behavior and conservation. I want to work in ecosystems like the Everglades or the Amazon, where I can study wildlife, monitor populations, and help keep both people and animals safe.
And maybe one day, I’ll even find links between animal biology and diseases like Sickle Cell, helping uncover new treatments through the natural world. That kind of work would mean everything to me.
🎓 What This Scholarship Means to Me
Being awarded the Warrior On The Rise Scholarship is a deeply personal honor. I’ve seen what Sickle Cell Disease can do—my mom has lived with it my whole life, and watching her strength has shaped my own drive to succeed and make a difference.
This scholarship supports more than just my education. It supports my dreams, my research, and my desire to help build a future where science and compassion work hand in hand.
🌍 Help More Young Scientists Rise
I’m one of 27 Warrior On The Rise scholars selected this year—an incredible expansion from only 10 recipients in years past. This growth is thanks to the generosity of people like you, who choose to invest in warriors ready to explore, heal, and lead.
When you give to the Warrior On The Rise Scholarship Fund, you’re fueling the next generation of doctors, scientists, creatives, and change-makers—just like me.
Thank you for believing in us.
