Isaac Afihene's Story

🌱 Growth Through Hardship—And Proof That Anything Is Possible

Hello, my name is Isaac, and if there’s one thing I’ve been working toward my whole life, it’s growth—as a person, a student, and someone living with Sickle Cell Disease.

I love chess, video games, anime, and cartoons. I’m into volleyball and soccer, and I love spending time with my friends and watching shows that make me think or just make me laugh. These things help me stay grounded and joyful, even when life throws challenges my way.

When I applied for the Warrior On The Rise Scholarship, I put everything into my essay—especially about how much I’ve grown through hardship. And winning this award showed me that my growth really is visible. That my story, my effort, and my determination matter.

🎓 What This Scholarship Means to Me

Receiving this scholarship is more than an award—it’s a recognition of my journey. It tells me that all the strength I’ve built, all the struggles I’ve faced, and all the ways I’ve kept moving forward haven’t gone unnoticed.

This honor reminds me that even with this illness, I can keep growing. I can show others living with Sickle Cell that anything is possible, no matter the circumstances.

💡 Help the Next Warrior Rise

I’m one of 27 students who received the Warrior On The Rise Scholarship this year—nearly triple the number awarded in past years. That kind of growth is only possible because of supporters like you.

By donating to the Warrior On The Rise Scholarship Fund, you help young warriors like me continue to rise through adversity, pursue our passions, and prove that our futures are just beginning.

Thank you for believing in us.
