💻 From the Court to Cybersecurity — I’m Ready to Rise

Hi, I’m Zamir, and I’m a proud graduate of Chapel Hill High School and West Georgia Technical School, where I earned my certificate in Cybersecurity. This fall, I’ll be heading to Albany State University to study Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity—and I couldn’t be more excited!

I’m a very positive and caring young man. I love my family, I love God, and I believe in always lifting others up. I’ve played basketball for years, and during my senior year I decided to try something new—track and field—and ended up winning the Coach’s Award for being positive and encouraging to my team. That’s the kind of energy I want to bring into college and into my career.

While in high school, I challenged myself through dual enrollment classes, which helped me get ahead and prepared me for the college journey ahead. I’m more than ready to take the next step.

🎓 Why This Scholarship Matters

Being awarded the Warrior On The Rise Scholarship is a huge honor. It’s not just helping me financially—it’s sending a powerful message to my little sister, who is living with Sickle Cell Disease. I want her to know that she can achieve anything she puts her mind to, and I hope I’m setting an example she can look up to.

This scholarship means a lot to me and my mom, and I’m so grateful to be part of a community that believes in young people who are pushing forward, no matter the obstacles.

I’m sharing my story because I want more students like me to have this same opportunity. This year, thanks to generous supporters, the MTS Sickle Cell Foundation was able to award 27 Warrior On The Rise Scholarships—a huge leap from the 10 awarded last year.
