The Very Untraditional Fairy Tale of Center Stage

Once upon a time (around 2004—so not that long ago), six brave women—Delnora, Gia, Coni, Tiffini, Mandy, and Lisa—looked at youth theater and said:

“Yeah… this casting stuff? It’s kinda messed up.”

So they created Center Stage Productions, a magical theater in San Diego County where the old fairy-tale rules were tossed straight into the swamp.

Mission the First: No Cuts. Ever.

At Center Stage, if you want to perform, congratulations—you’re in the show.
Tall, short, loud, shy, human, ogre-adjacent? Doesn’t matter.
No auditions of doom. No crying in the parking lot.

Mission the Second: Gold Is Optional

Some theaters demand a dragon’s hoard of gold.
Center Stage said, “Nay.”
If you ask for tuition help, you get it. Every time.

Mission the Third: Flip the Fairy Tale

Princesses can be anyone.
Heroes can look like anyone.
Villains don’t have to be scary—sometimes they’re just misunderstood.

Center Stage casts ethically and fairly, giving equal opportunity to performers of every gender identity, ability, religion, race, ethnicity, and orientation.

And so the kingdom learned an important lesson:
The best stories happen when everyone gets a part.
