Gall and Leaf Miner 'Blitz

When? Wednesday, October 8 at 10am to 2pm

Where? Meet at first parking lot at Greenbrier in GSMNP

What are galls and leaf miners? Both galls and leaf miner activity are signs of parasitic insects living inside plant tissue...This is a great opportunity to do some community science and learn something new!

We will be using the iNaturalist app, to take photos and share to the community science platform. No prior experience necessary!

Before the event:

Download iNaturalist to your phone (it’s free!)
Follow prompts in the app to create an iNaturalist account

What to bring:

Bring water and a sack lunch (we’ll also provide water)
Wear weather-appropriate clothing for field work: long pants and shoes or boots
Smart phone or camera
Writing utensil and notebook or pad
Personal sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.
Rain gear
Backpack for gear during field work
