On January 24, 2026, players from the Greater Boston Draft League will take the ice at Daly Rink in Newton, MA to face the Boston Bruins Alumni in a charity hockey game supporting life-saving cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

This isn’t just another hockey game. It’s our team’s way of joining the fight against cancer by raising funds through the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge (DFMC), the official charity of the Boston Marathon.

Each year, DFMC runners train through the long New England winter, logging hundreds of miles to support innovative cancer research at Dana-Farber. Our hockey team is matching that effort in our own way, fundraising for the same groundbreaking cause.

All funds raised go to the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The DFMC has directed more than $140 million to this program, providing vital funding for high-risk, high-reward studies that are often difficult to secure through traditional sources. By supporting the early stages of basic cancer research, DFMC helps Dana-Farber scientists pursue new ideas that can lead to life-changing discoveries and better patient outcomes.

After the final horn, we’ll celebrate with a post-game event at Community Rowing Boathouse, next door to the rink. It’s a chance for players, families, and supporters to come together and toast the good we’ve done as a community.

Boston is a city built on grit, teamwork, and heart. Whether it’s running 26.2 miles or skating three hard periods, we’re all part of the same race toward a world without cancer.
