The 250th Legacy Celebration

In 1776, Stephen Girard arrived in America. His success as an entrepreneur, his commitment to philanthropy, and his vision for educating young people created a legacy that continues to change lives today. Girard College opened its doors on January 1, 1848, and nearly 180 years later, that mission is very much alive.

Today, Girard College is a historic, full-scholarship boarding school serving academically focused students in grades 1 through 12 from underserved, single-parent, or limited-resource families. This celebration is not simply a look back at 250 years of history. It is an investment in what comes next. Funds raised will help provide our students with the education, resources, experiences, and support they need to thrive.

On Friday, December 4, 2026, join us at Founders Hall for an evening of French-inspired food stations, an open bar, and performances by Girard College students, as we honor two extraordinary leaders:

David Adelman, Philadelphia entrepreneur and business leader whose work includes Campus Apartments, FS Investments, and Darco Capital, as well as his partnership in Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils.

Ken Frazier, former Chairman and CEO of Merck, and one of the nation's most respected business and civic leaders, whose career and continued commitment to creating opportunity for others make him an especially fitting honoree.

From Stephen Girard's arrival in 1776, to the opening of Girard College in 1848, to the young people walking our campus today, this has always been a story about opportunity, education, and possibility. Register or become a sponsor below and help write the next chapter.
