Anchoring this hub were cherished establishments: a distinguished Black-owned hotel, a pioneering beauty supply store, cherished tourist homes, and many more. All of these distinguished establishments were locations within the Negro Motorist Green Book.

Numerous Black-owned enterprises flourished inside the streets of the Harlem District, including grocers, pharmacies, restaurants, salons, barbershops, picture studios, and newspapers.

The district's resonance went beyond business, reflecting the lifeblood of the civil rights movement.
