THE STORY

For the kids who learn faster with a horse than in a chair.

If you still love the smell of a barn, clean shavings, the warm breath of a nuzzle into your cheek, the sound of hoofbeats across an open field when two souls become one, then this is for you. We see you. We hear you. And what we are building is for all of us.

I am Laura Bruner. I started 350 horses before I started this school, after twenty years on the Hunter Jumper circuit, national and international. For decades the same student kept showing up at my barn: bright, restless, more at home in the saddle than at a desk, and quietly failed by a school system that could not bend to fit them. So I built the school I kept wishing existed.

The alarm bells are ringing.

Our industry is in survival mode. Across the country, 243 rural areas in 46 states are now federally declared veterinary shortage zones, the highest number ever recorded. A generation of equine veterinarians is leaving the profession faster than we can replace it, and younger generations no longer have easy access to the farms, mentors, and education that built the people before them. We do not have the next generation ready to fill the professional roles a thriving industry needs. And the horses are the ones who suffer.

What we are building.

Equis Amare College Preparatory Academy (EACPA) is a 501(c)(3) secondary school in Penn Valley, California, where rigorous academics meet hands on equine science. Students earn a real college preparatory education, STEM and AP coursework, across five professional tracks: equine science, equine business, equine law, reproduction and genetics, and biotechnology. Every track ends with a credential the equine industry recognizes. The barn is not the reward. It is the classroom.

Alongside the campus sits an educational horse park open to the community, where amateurs and professionals of every age, discipline, and background can keep learning: saddle fit, trailer safety, equine first aid, nutrition, ranch management, equine law, and more, taught by industry leaders. Because you never stop learning.

Why now.

We have secured a 37.9 acre campus, built 27 certified courses, registered our trademarks, assembled a board and faculty, and put 345 families on the waitlist before a single door opened. We are entering the most critical phase of the project: finalizing county studies, securing approvals, and breaking ground. This is the moment your support changes everything.
