She is a Senior Companion Volunteer, one of 35 older adults who volunteer through Volunteers for Community Impact to visit homebound seniors in Orange and Seminole counties. Companions are 55 and older themselves. Many are in their 60s and 70s.

About one in four Americans 65 and older is socially isolated. A regular visit helps a senior stay in the home they love, and it gives the volunteer a reason to get out the door too. One gift helps two seniors.
