Story
Begun in 2020 by The Secret Magic Garden Society, a group bonded by their friendship and commitment to using their collective skills for good, the Fountain Preservation Project is an ongoing effort to restore the grounds in the back of Glen Echo Park and Fountain at its center. There are two annual events to support our fundraising efforts: Bluegrass at the Fountain in the fall and The Magic Garden Flower Bloom in the spring.
To date, over $85,000 has been raised and used to: stabilize the base of the fountain; remove decades' worth of invasive vines and plants that had overtaken the perimeter; uncover a second fountain in the thicket (the Secret Fountain in the back); replant this area with a garden of native trees, shrubs and flowers; and uncover several holes of the original putt-putt course on the grounds.
This project honors the life of Stephanie Beeler, our friend who spent her career at the National Park Service and US Geological Survey, and who worked every day to make the world a better place.
