KD Hilton Look. Foundation Boston Marathon Runner On April 20th, I will be running the Boston Marathon to raise awareness and support for children and families affected by PANS and PANDAS.

I am an athlete, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and most importantly, a mom to a child with PANS/PANDAS. My son went six years without a diagnosis while his physical and mental health continued to decline. We searched for answers without understanding what was happening.

PANS and PANDAS are infection-triggered neuroimmune conditions that can cause symptoms such as OCD, anxiety, tics, and significant behavioral changes. They are often misunderstood or misdiagnosed, which can delay critical treatment.

KD Hilton Look. Foundation Boston Marathon Runner It was through someone who had experienced a similar journey that we finally learned about this condition. My son is now receiving treatment, but because of the years without proper care, the road ahead is still long.

I do not want another family to go through what we have for as long as we did.

I believe we need to be the change we want to see. Running this race is my way of raising awareness and helping families access the information, care, and support they so desperately need.
