Special Needs Respite's Mission: Provide funding for quality respite care and resources for families of special needs children in metro Atlanta

Special Needs Respite helps bridge the existing funding gap that many parents have when trying to get childcare for their special needs child. We can provide funds that will pay qualified caregivers to care for these children when no other way to pay is available to the parents.

You can be part of making this happen!

For golfers, two steps:

1. Register as a golfer by clicking the Fundraise! button above - join an existing team (could be a foursome or whatever) or create a new one! Heads up - to create a team you'll need a logo!

2. Click on the Donate or Golf  button in the upper right to "purchase" your player ticket.  This entry fee is $150.  If you raise at least this much via fundraising, your player cost is covered!  Otherwise, we will ask you to donate the difference to cover that $150.  Or you can choose to immediately donate to cover the cost. You will have a personal URL that you can share with friends via email, social media, and even text messaging to raise funds. So share your link!

You can "Share my page" which opens a window to share via social media, email, and even via text message (this option allows you to follow-up and track). From your team member box, there are also several shortcuts, such as sharing to Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, as well as just a Copy Link so you can paste however you want. See below:

If you are participating as a fundraiser and are not golfing, just click the Fundraise! button and create or join a team, and share your URL!

Who is Alan Knieter

Alan Knieter was a friend and neighbor of Special Needs Respite's founder Stacy Georges and her husband, Tom. They were next door neighbors for nearly 20 years, and his passing in 2018 meant the end of a multi-faceted friendship. Alan, along with his wife Karen, were not merely next door neighbors, but dear friends as well - which is a rare thing. Alan loved golf. After retiring, he golfed nearly every weekday, and this golf fundraiser is being presented in his honor. Also, as an accomplished musician and bandleader in Atlanta for over 25 years, he entertained thousands at weddings and other events. Alan's musical legacy extends to New York City, where he taught hundreds of students, and Boston, where he was a student conductor of the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood. As a lover of jazz, Alan collaborated with the best of the best in Atlanta, including Neil Starkey, Gary Motley, and Joe Gransden. Karen still lives next door to Stacy and Tom, who continue to be not just neighbors, but great friends.

What is Special Needs Respite?

Special Needs Respite, founded in 2017 by Stacy Georges, helps bridge the existing funding gap that many parents have when trying to get childcare for their special needs child. They provide funds that will pay qualified caregivers to care for these children when no other way to pay is available to the parents.
