As the world navigates profound uncertainty, some of the most grounded guidance available has been alive for millennia – held by Indigenous knowledge keepers whose traditions have sustained their peoples and the balance of life across generations. And right now, they’re asking us to come to the table.

This month we welcome Benjamin De Loenen of ICEERS, one of the lead organizers behind the World Ayahuasca Forum – a once-in-a-generation gathering taking place September 9-13 in Girona, Spain, convened under Indigenous leadership from 20 nations. Ben will share what this gathering is, why it matters now, and what Indigenous leaders are asking of communities like ours. He’ll also speak to a unique opportunity for GPS society leaders – a small number of ambassador spots are available for those who feel called to be in Girona, to learn, to represent our network, and to be part of something historic.

For nearly 25 years, Benjamin De Loenen has been actively engaged in addressing the challenges and repercussions associated with the globalization of Ayahuasca and other Traditional Indigenous Medicines. He has committed himself to fostering a framework of collective stewardship, empowering all communities involved. This approach aims to create an Alliance of Knowledges, where ancestral and modern ontologies and knowledge systems converge to promote collective healing for all – humans and non-humans alike. In 2009 Ben founded the international non-profit ICEERS as the principal vehicle to bring that mission to life. ICEERS works globally and holds United Nations consultative status. Ben helped incubate and served as Interim Co-Director of the Indigenous Medicine Conservation (IMC) Fund before handing over to Indigenous co-Directors. He has also served the Board of the Global Ibogaine Therapist Alliance, and is the author of the documentaries Ibogaine – Rite of Passage and Ayahuasca Reframed.
