Music education and girls are under attack and we need your help!

The Girls Rock Camp Alliance is an international membership network of youth-centered arts and social justice organizations. We provide resources and space for community building to our membership in order to build a strong movement for collective liberation. But what does that look like?

All over the world our member camps center girls, gender-diverse, transgender, Two-Spirit, and youth who are allies using music education as a foundation. Generally, the camps have a similar structure; a 5-day Summer camp, during which the campers will learn an instrument, form a band, write a song of their own, and perform at the end of the week! Each camp celebrates diversity, individuality, and every location brings in their own local charm.

Many of our member camps offer after-school programs along with other events and concerts for campers and volunteers throughout the year. We also have campers who will grow with the program, returning every year until they age out and then return as volunteers themselves. Many camps have former campers holding positions on their leadership teams.

Our GRCA board members know a little something about what our campers experience during camp week. We are volunteers, music instructors, band coaches, and organizers in our camps. The transformation that we see in our young campers each and every year is the reason we are all so passionate about GRCA. Creating this incredible affirming, joyful experience for our youth is one of the most meaningful things we do. To watch the teen who could barely whisper into the mic on Monday rock out to a packed house of cheering fans at the Saturday showcase concert is a life changing experience for everyone involved. Yes, we all cry on Showcase Day.

GRCA is committed to strengthening our global community through meaningful, in-person connection. Each year, we invite every member organization to come together at our international conference—an essential space for learning, collaboration, and shared inspiration.

As our board expanded from 5 to 15 members in 2025, we are seizing this moment to reimagine how we support our member camps. Together, we’re exploring new ways to empower every camp to thrive, grow, and become the strongest version of itself. A one-time contribution of any amount, or an ongoing donation to Girls Rock Camp Alliance will support our Annual International Conference in Fredrikstad, Norway. All funds will support expenses like travel and rental expenses, artist fees and aid our efforts to make our programming accessible with interpretation services and local transport.
