If you drive down Pennsylvania Avenue, you might miss it at first—a vibrant splash of green tucked inside the concrete loop of a freeway off-ramp. What was once a neglected patch of urban dust is now a thriving sanctuary. It started with a single rescued flowering bush planted by a neighbor. Today, it’s a living example of what happens when a community decides to reclaim its environment.

The "Why": The Pennsylvania Garden doesn't have a city-funded landscaping crew. It exists because of neighbors like you. It is maintained by volunteers who pull weeds, haul mulch, and plant drought-tolerant species that can handle the unique microclimate of Potrero Hill.

Where Your Donation Goes: Maintaining a park in a "loop" presents unique challenges.

Your contributions will fund:

Native & Drought-Tolerant Plants: Species that provide habitat for local pollinators while requiring minimal water.
Infrastructure & Tools: ("Hoses, wheelbarrows, and specialized irrigation" - change to "Pruners, shovels, and loppers") to keep the garden green through SF’s dry summers.
Community Workdays: Providing gloves, ("snacks" - change to "drinks"), and materials for the volunteer crews who do the heavy lifting.
