What We’re Doing

The Clatskanie Food Hub is expanding.

We're adding a community kitchen, growing our retail space, improving our entrance for accessibility, and upgrading our point-of-sale system to support vendors and launch a customer loyalty program.

Why It Matters

More space means more room for local food, more opportunities for small producers, and more connection for our community.

This expansion will allow us to:

Host cooking classes, workshops, and farm-to-table events
Handle eggs from more farms through our licensed facility
Preserve local food and reduce waste through creative processing
Bring in more producers and diversify our offerings
Make shopping easier and more welcoming for everyone

What We Need

We’re raising $15,000 to fund the final pieces:

Commercial kitchen equipment, shelving, and smallwares
Gas line and electrical upgrades
Storefront expansion for added retail space
A fully accessible front entrance
A POS upgrade to serve producers and shoppers better

We’ve already secured $77,000 in state and regional grant funding and nearly $5,000 from our first community fundraiser, which helped us build the foundation of the kitchen. But to finish the job, we need more local support.

Why We Can’t Do It Alone

As a nonprofit consignment grocery store, we send 80 to 90 percent of each sale back to producers. That’s our mission. But it also means we don’t have the margins to fund infrastructure projects on our own.

Still, we’ve made an outsized impact.

In the last two years, we’ve sold nearly $400,000 of local food, supporting small farms and food businesses across our region.

We Do a Lot with a Little

With just 1.25 staff and a small-but-mighty team of volunteers, we:

Run a year-round grocery store, open five days a week
Host 18 annual farmers markets, including four seasonal festivals
Organize cooking classes, workshops, and producer networking events
Cater for regional partners
Manage a 100-mile volunteer-powered distribution route
Support over 100 local businesses (and counting)
Host an annual Farm to Table dinner, feeding 60 guests a 100% locally sourced meal on a local farm
Contribute actively to Oregon’s statewide food hub network
Serve as a strong partner in Clatskanie’s downtown revitalization efforts and Columbia County’s broader economic development strategies

We are careful with every dollar and committed to doing the work well.
