Let's build the Monastery Chapel!

Dear brothers and sisters,

The time has come and now we are ready to announce that this year we hope to begin construction of a separate chapel (church) for the monastery. Since the renewal of monastic life at the monastery, we have been serving liturgies in the home chapel, in which the spiritual children and friends of our monastery have now become very crowded. It took us much time to prepare the construction project, coordinate the development plan with the city authorities, and obtain permits.

Chapels (churches) are rarely built on the American continent and not many are given the opportunity by God to be involved in such an undertaking. The church building in our tradition is a special place where the Lord is always present, and in a special way - in His Holy Body and Blood! The church is the place where a person mystically unites with God, thereby transforming one's soul. Let us also place our names among those faithful benefactors, builders and ktitoros * who have built or donated money to build monasteries and churches for centuries. The Church always assigns a special place at every church service to the commemoration of such faithful. They are commemorated until the end of times at all services of the monastery or church built with their financial participation.

* Ktitor, (eng. benefactor) from Greek κτήτωρ - founder, or creator from ancient Greek κτίζω - build, create, more precisely, this is the person who has allocated funds for the construction or repair of an Orthodox church or monastery or for its decoration with icons, frescoes, and holy objects like oil lamps and monastic pews.

Построим храм в монастыре!

Дорогие братья и сестры,

Пришло время и теперь мы готовы объявить о том, что уже в этом году надеемся приступить к строительству отдельного храма обители. С начала возобновления монашеской жизни обители мы служим в домовом храме, в котором духовным чадам и друзьям нашего монастыря теперь стало совсем тесно. Нам потребовалось много времени на подготовку проекта строительства, согласование плана застройки с городскими властями, получение разрешительных документов.

Нечасто возводятся храмы на американском континенте и не многим дается возможность Богом быть причастным к такому начинанию. Храм в нашей традиции — это особое место, где Господь присутствует всегда, и особым образом – в Своем Святом Теле и Крови! Храм — это то место, где человек мистически соединяется с Богом, Тем преображая свою душу. Давайте и мы с вами разместим свои имена среди тех верующих доброхотов, строителей и ктиторов*, которые веками созидали монастыри и храмы. Церковь всегда отводит особое место на каждом богослужении поминовению таких верных. Они поминаются до скончания века на всех богослужениях воздвигнутого при их участии монастыря или храма.

* Кти́тор от греч.κτήτωρ — основатель, или создатель от κτίζω — строю, созидаю, точнее это лицо, выделившее средства на строительство или ремонт православного монастыря или храма на его украшение иконами, фресками или другими предметами декоративно-прикладного церковного искусства.
