Many people in the Korean diaspora grow up navigating complex questions of identity, belonging, and culture. For artists and community members alike, finding spaces where those experiences can be shared is not always easy. Cultural disconnection, limited representation, and the pressures of assimilation can make it difficult for diasporic communities to explore and celebrate their heritage.
Founded in Los Angeles, GYOPO creates public programs centered on Korean diasporic arts and culture. Through conversations, gatherings, and creative events, GYOPO provides a welcoming space where artists, thinkers, and community members can connect, share stories, and explore the many perspectives that shape the Korean diaspora today.
By bringing people together through art and cultural exchange, GYOPO helps build stronger community connections while encouraging dialogue around identity, heritage, and belonging. Their work highlights the diversity of diasporic experiences and supports artists who are expanding how Korean culture is expressed and understood around the world.
GYOPO’s community-centered events include:
- Public conversations and panels where artists, writers, and cultural workers discuss themes of identity, diaspora, and contemporary culture.
- Cultural gatherings and celebrations that honor traditions such as Chuseok and the Lunar New Year while creating opportunities for community connection.
- Arts programs and creative events that showcase Korean diasporic artists and foster collaboration, storytelling, and cultural exchange.
Your donation will support GYOPO’s ongoing efforts to create spaces where Korean culture can be explored, shared, and celebrated through art, conversation, and community.
