Mary Kay O’Rourke served HabiJax as President and CEO for over 15 years, after beginning her work with us as Family Selection Coordinator. She has helped more than 2,000 Jacksonville families achieve homeownership. Her leadership marked a productive period for HabiJax, as the organization began to build townhouses, forge new community partnerships and financing relationships, and carry out blitz builds. Mary Kay was protective of HabiJax’s reputation and worked to establish it as a housing authority. Her partnership with Delores Barr Weaver led to innovative projects such as the Tiny Houses on Navaho. HabiJax is happy to celebrate her accomplishments in a more public way after her retirement in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
