Thank you for signing up for our nature walk! Please read the following to prepare.

Weather and Clothing - I encourage everyone to come prepared for the weather. We'll walk partly in open areas and some in wooded areas. You can bring mosquito spray. I recommend that you wear close toed shoes in case of ants along the trail and to prevent stings from other critters.

Parking and meetup site - We’ll meet up in front of the restrooms on the north side of the parking lot of the Clay Family Eastern Glades. Eastern Glades Map M type 101620 Parking is metered Here's a link to the app if you want to pay in advance. ParkHouston - Apps on Google Play

Restrooms - There are gendered restrooms next to the parking lot and there are no restrooms or sources of drinking water along most of the trail path.

Water/Liquids and Snacks – Please remember to bring your water container and any snacks you may need for the walk. Please do not consume any intoxicating liquids or substances before or during the walk – I want to enjoy your full beautiful presence during our time together at the park, as well as for safety on the trails.

Valuables - I encourage everyone to leave valuables at home and do not leave any valuables visible in your vehicles.

Apps for IDing Species – There are several apps that assist in identifying non-Humyn species - iNaturalist, Seek, LeafSnap, Merlin Bird ID, BirdNET. Feel free to download any of these apps on your phone for the walk.

Other Safety Tips – Even though this is an urban park, there is always a chance of coming across poisonous critters like snakes and also vines like poison ivy. I encourage anyone who is not experienced in natural habitats to stay on the cemented trails and anyone who does go off the trail to check your surroundings carefully.
