Help sustain Halogen's free photo sessions for the community!

Halogen raises suicide awareness in Black and Brown trans and gender expansive communities through art. We are committed to providing a space where Black and Brown trans and gender expansive individuals can honor themselves, reimagine and nourish the relationship with the self, and explore rawness and sweeping genuineness of their soul. Importantly, starting, holding, and continuing the conversation that suicide prevention is not simply a late stage crisis management tool. It is whole self engagement in all parts of someone’s daily life.

In Novemeber of 2025, we started offering free 1-hour photo shoots for Black and Brown trans and gender expansive folks as gender affirming care. This is a space for them to access gender euphoria, love on themselves, and/or get to know themselves deeper. In these sessions, we talk about the work of Halogen and provide mental health first aid - reducing stigma around talking about suicide and suicidal ideation. This space is meant for folks to explore what visibility, autonomy, and expression means to them - allowing them to see themselves the way they see themselves and not how the world may see them. We've done 20 sessions and counting! That's 20+ hours directly celebrating folks!

Halogen is based in Seattle, WA, but folks in different states have been inquiring about if Halogen can come provide free photos in their states. That is definitely a goal in 2026! It would be a beautiful expansion to create photo residencies in different states to provide this service for free. However, that is a future goal.

This fundraiser is to help me keep providing free photo sessions. Studio rental costs, personnel time, travel costs, and general operating costs add up.
